Participation in Leadership Exchange Program for Persons With Disabilities by MIUSA

MID participated in the Leadership Exchange program for Persons with Disabilities organised by MIUSA in Eugene, Oregon, USA. General Secretory of MID Mrs. Sadia Butt attended this 17 days exchange program along with a delegation of Leaders of or working for persons with Disabilities.

ABOUT MIUSA:

Mobility International USA (MIUSA) is a U.S.-based, non-profit organization whose mission is to empower people with disabilities around the world to achieve their human rights through international exchange and international development.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
The U.S./Pakistan Disability Leadership Professional Exchange Programwillbring together twenty mid-level professionals with and without disabilities for a 14-day group-centered program in Eugene, Oregon, USA.

Special Talent Exchange Programme (STEP) of Pakistan will assist MIUSA with the outreach and recruitment phase of the program.

The final delegation will be selected by MIUSA, with final approval from the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad.

The program is designed to reach the following goals:
1) To build the leadership capacity of people with disabilities in Pakistan
2) To strengthen the capacity of organizations to effectively empower people with disabilities in Pakistan
3) To promote mutual understanding and respect between the people of the United States of America and Pakistan

In highly interactive workshops and seminars, site visits, cross-cultural professional development activities, and a host family experience, participants will explore challenges and generate strategies for increasing leadership opportunities and strengthening community organizations in Pakistan to include people disabilities throughout their programs and activities.
